Leading The Way

Hi, I’m Adina. I am a Triathlon and Swim Coach on a mission to help ordinary people unleash the extraordinary athlete inside. My passion is helping you feel what it’s like to accomplish an athletic goal for the first time. It may have taken years of my brother and friends convincing me to try new sports and distances, but now that rush of adrenaline pulls me towards finish lines I never imagined were possible.

I went from not being able to run a mile to completing over 100 endurance events including the Paris Marathon, IRONMAN Mont Tremblant, ice swims, a 13 mile swim, and a 200 mile single day bike ride. I’m not fast, but I never give up. You can usually find me getting the best value for my race entry at the back of the pack, but I have earned a few age group awards. Total proof that showing up consistently matters.

When I’m not coaching or competing, you can find me traveling or at live concerts with my husband and 2 children. I also love simple things in life like walking by the ocean, playing board games and watching Seinfeld reruns with my yellow lab at my feet.

As a lifelong athlete I knew what I wanted, but wasn’t sure how to get there. My goal was to do a triathlon and eventually try a half IRONMAN, despite my fear of open water swimming and crazy lack-of-time life. Adina took out the guesswork. She worked with me to create an individualized plan that allows me to focus on my “why”: I will not let MS hold me back.
She encourages me with her infectious enthusiasm and gives honest feedback when it’s time to push harder or slow down. Adina literally held my hand and coached me step by step until I found comfort in the water. She believed in me until I was able to believe in myself. With Adina’s constant support I know I can make my big dream come true.

I learned that judgment is hurtful and compassion is necessary. I learned that REAL friends love you for who you are, not what you look like. I taught myself to be happy being me and decided to always focus on showing up with confidence no matter how nervous I felt.

At some point my friends began saying I was an inspiration. I didn’t feel like anything special but my superpower to help other women feel confident about themselves began to shine. I ignored negative comments about being too loud or talking too much and I began using my voice to cheer for others and advocate for all the unseen athletes. I got certified as a triathlon and swim coach. A few close friends trusted me to train them.

I saw that I wasn’t the only one looking for a safe space where I could show up as myself and feel like I belong. In 2021, Team B*REAL was born: an endurance sport community where athletes of any size, color, identity, age & ability are empowered to achieve their personal goals.

Team B*REAL is soooo much like a family. Everyone is so supportive of everyone else. I feel like I can be me, you know the introvert loner athlete.
I started coming out of my box, being the team cheerleader, sharing my adventures, not feeling like I’m being judged. I feel like I’m part of something.

Empowering Athletes Through Values

Authenticity, Acceptance, Integrity

AUTHENTICITY

I do not do fake and can’t stand drama. I honor my truth. I listen with respect and say what’s on my mind. I’m a regular person. I have good and bad days. I own my mistakes and learn from them. I believe that mutual communication is key to any relationship. I’d much rather hear what I’m doing wrong than hear nothing at all.

COMMUNITY OF ACCEPTANCE

I believe that everyone deserves to feel a sense of belonging. To me that means being invited, welcomed, befriended, heard and accepted. I celebrate differences and individuality and strive to set an example of kindness and positivity.

INTEGRITY

I am a horrible liar. Even the little white lies you sometimes tell your kids to protect them never roll off my tongue easily. I believe that honesty is the only way to run a business. I choose what is right over what is easy or popular. I am here to help you to the best of my ability in your best interest.

We love our coach. Adina is honest, kind, silly, fun and most of all REAL! Her coaching is as powerful as her personality. She creates a welcoming environment for athletes from different backgrounds and adjusts her approach to support each individual. She helped me stay patient while rebuilding run stamina within a safe heart rate.
Adina built a community of openness, and acceptance at Team B*REAL. She inspires us to keep going forward with encouragement and love but never judges. She sees your potential and celebrates every step of your journey.

Adina is also an inspiring athlete in her own right having completed numerous endurance events. We love how she leads by example. She shares the highs and lows and reminds us that it is OK to DNF, eat carbs and take rest days.

I used to consider myself a “wanna be” athlete – not fast enough, not in shape enough, not the right body type. Adina’s infectious, kind enthusiasm makes me feel I can do anything.
I have learned better nutrition. I am aware of opportunities available. I am learning to set high goals. I expect to learn how to get there!
